Drew LaComb had a big night on base and Tyler Hasper picked up a relief win in his DuPage debut as the Hounds knocked off the Chicago Zephyrs 7-5 to end a two-game losing streak.

LaComb scored three runs during a 3-4 night at the plate. He also stole two bases and allowed another run to score during a failed stolen base attempt.

With the score tied 3-3 in the top of the 4^th, Frankie Perrone knocked a one-out single. He then stole second and slid under the tag on Kyle Hunsinger’s sac-bunt/fielder’s choice. Clayton Johannes then hit a groundball to second base, allowing Perrone to sneak in and put DuPage up 4-3.

The Hounds (8-2) picked up another run in the 5^th after Brian Lees’s RBI single to plate LaComb. DuPage added two more unearned runs off Lorenzo Aguayo in the 7^th as LaComb and Alex Cain each scored on Zephyr errors.

In his first appearance for the Hounds, Tyler Hasper pitched four solid innings in relief of starter Chase Thurston, allowing two unearned runs on three hits from the 4^th through the 7^th innings. He walked none and struck out four. At one point Hasper retired nine Zephyrs in a row.

Ben Krusen took the loss for the Zephyrs, allowing five runs in six innings, identical to his first start against the Hounds back on May 30. Ryan Hinchley came on in the 8^th for a six-out save, sitting Chicago down in order in back-to-back frames. He struck out four hitters, including John Brodner for the last out of the game.

The Zephyrs (2-5) responded to Drew Sterioti’s RBI single in the top of the 1^st with three runs in the bottom of the frame, stringing together five consecutive singles off Thurston. Brodner and Greg Sidor each drove in runs during that stretch, and Drew Bailey picked up an RBI after a bases-loaded walk.

Thurston would rebound to shut Chicago down over the next two innings, finishing with seven strikeouts in three innings of work.

The Hounds evened the score in the top of the 2^nd. Hunsinger walked, advanced to second on an error, and scored on Emerson Misch’s RBI single. LaComb followed with a single and Misch advanced to third on a wild pitch. Krusen then caught LaComb taking off for second early and induced a rundown, but LaComb kept the Zephyrs’ attention long enough for Misch to scamper home with the tying run.

LaComb was one of five Hounds caught stealing on the day.

The Hounds continue their six-game road trip tomorrow in Southland, looking to avenge their Sunday night loss to the Vikings. Game time is 7:10.
