Pat Cashman pitched a Solid Seven and Drew Sterioti provided a spark at the plate as the Hounds knocked off the Zephyrs 7-2 in the second game of a doubleheader.

Cashman finished the night after seven effective innings, allowing two runs on seven hits. He walked one, hit four batters, and struck out eight. Cashman worked out of jams in almost every inning, including inducing back-to-back strikeouts to leave the bases loaded in the top of the 7^th.

DuPage County provided Cashman with run support from the get-go. Frankie Perrone was hit by a Mitchell Holtz pitch to lead off the bottom of the 1^st, and Connor Kopach drove him in on an RBI double. Kopach eventually scored on a Mike Roberson groundout to make it 2-0.

With a 2-1 lead, Clayton Johannes led off the 3^rd with an infield single and stole second base. Kopach then reached on an error by shortstop Drew Bailey, sending Johannes to third. During Brian Lees’s at-bat, Johannes and Kopach executed the double steal to make it 3-1. Kopach came in two pitches later on a steal of third and a wild pitch.

After Cashman surrendered a second run on an Andy Jaskolski single in the 4^th, the Hounds scored twice more in the 6^th. With two out and two on, Drew Sterioti came on to pinch hit. Building on his strong matinee showing, Sterioti laced a double down the left field line, plating both runners to make it 6-2.

DuPage’s seventh run came home in the 7^th when Kopach scored on an error. With five runs in the morning and seven in the evening, the Hounds have scored 52 runs in the past seven games.

Ryan Hinchley came on to pitch in the 8^th and tossed two scoreless innings, striking out Jake Jouris to put it in the books.

After their first twin billing of the 2014 campaign, the Hounds improve to 13-3 on the season. DuPage returns to action tomorrow night for a grudge match with the Southland Vikings. First pitch is at 6:00 and will be broadcast at dupagehounds.com.
